News & Announcements
Based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the New York State Department of Health, and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), the quarantine period for individuals exposed to confirmed COVID-19 cases has changed from 14 days to 10 days. Individuals with confirmed COVID-19 cases can end their quarantine after 10 days without a testing requirement, as long as no symptoms have been reported during the quarantine period. Current DOE heath policy will be updated, and families will be informed of this change in the coming days. Please note that effective January 3, 2021, the timeframe for individuals exposed to confirmed COVID-19 cases and the resulting interventions, such as classroom closures and building closures, have also changed from 14 days to 10 days. Individuals, classrooms, and school building closures that were subject to a 14-day quarantine period prior to January 3, must complete the duration of their 14-day quarantine.
For all 5th grade families, welcome letters for middle school have been mailed to your houses. If you do not receive a welcome letter by Friday please email Terri Lombardo, email@example.com. Just to be clear this letter just explains how to set up the Myschools account, we still have not been given an actual application process start date.
Fully remote families now have the option to opt-in to blended learning, meaning that students will learn in the school building for part of the week, and remotely at home the rest of the week. From Monday, November 2 through Sunday, November 15, families will be able to fill out the form above indicating their wish to change learning preferences. Students who change from remote to blended will begin in-person between the weeks of November 30 and December 7.
All students participating in Blended Learning are REQUIRED to have consent for COVID testing on file. A non response is considered as not giving consent. The consent form has changed and must be resubmitted. We are asking that all students resubmit by Friday, November 13th. To fill out the form please click the title above. If you have any questions, please reach out to our parent coordinator Jen Strange at firstname.lastname@example.org
