Kindergarten Registration for SY 23-24

Dear Parent/Gaudian-

 

Congratulations on your child being accepted to P.S. 29 Kindergarten program! We are so excited to expand our Bengal Family.

In order to successfully enroll your child,  please click here to schedule an in-person registration appointment. Your child MUST be in attendance and only a legal guardian can register your child. Time slots will be first come first serve. If you have any issues scheduling an appointment via the google calendar, please call the main office and ask for Mrs. Strange. More time slots will be added to the calendar after May 5th. 

 

Things needed at registration:

• The following documents are needed for registration. In order to speed up the process, please fill them out and email them back or print them to bring to your registration appointment. If you are unable to email or print out, you will have to fill them out during the registration appointment. (Forms can be picked up at the security desk or can be sent home to families with a sibling already attending P.S. 29)

2. Housing Questionnaire 
3. Parent-Guardian-Student Ethnic and Race Identification
4. Emergency Contact Card
5. Kindergarten New Admit Questionnaire

 

• Also, please email me a copy of the following completed forms and documents. If you are unable to email the below items, you are required to bring the hard copies to your appointment: 

   6. Your child's birth certificate

   7. Your child's immunization record

   8. Two proofs of address (driver licenses or utilities bill are preferred/ bank statements are NOT ALLOWED)

 

What will happen at registration?

• Documents #1-8 will be collected and any information regarding IEPs, health alerts, busing info and immunizations will be reviewed. Click here to review what immunizations are required. You will be given a health exam form that must be filled out by your pediatrician and returned on the first day of school.

• In order to provide your child with the best education possible, we need to determine how well he or she understands, speaks, reads, and writes English. During registration your child will be screened for NYSITELL ELIGIBILITY. Our ENL teachers will interview your child and review parents' information provided to determine your child’s home language and eligibility for the New York State Identification Test for English Language Learners (NYSITELL). This is a DOE mandated step that all new kindergarten students must complete.
