Grade:  Kindergarten  (Grades Reported Using Percentages) 

                          Reading

TC Benchmark Reading Assessments-50%

 Listening, Speaking & Language - 45%

 Homework - 5%                  

  Math

Unit Tests - 60%

Classwork - 35% 

Homework - 5%

  Writing 

TC Writing Assessments- 40%

Listening, Speaking, & Language- 55%

Homework - 5%

Social Studies & Science

Changed to pass/fail grade based on students’ classwork, participation and take home projects

Pass = <65%

Fail = >65%

 

Grading Scales


96% -100%: Exceeds Standards 

85% -  95%: Above Standards 

65% -  84%: Meets Standards 

  0% -  64%: Below Standards


*64% will be the lowest grade recorded on the report card*

ME Exceeds Standard

MA Above Standard

MT Meet Standard

MP Approaching Standard

Final Grade Calculation

A grade is given for each of three Marking Periods.

The final grade is an average of those three grades.

Marking Periods

There will be three Marking Periods for the 2019 - 2020 school year.  Marking Periods will be roughly equal in length and may not align with the Parent Teacher Conferences.  


1st Marking Period ends November 22, 2019

2nd Marking Period ends February 28, 2020

3rd Marking Period ends June 19, 2020

Grade Changes

Grades can be changed only for the following reasons:

1. Grading calculation error.

2. Data entry error.

Honor Roll

High Honors: 

  • Major Subject Average (Reading, Writing, Math) - 96% or greater
  • Science, Social Studies  - PASS
  • Minor Subjects - Grade of MA or greater
  • Academic and Personal Behaviors - 3 out of 5 areas are ME, nothing less than MA
  • Absences: No more than 5 absences per marking period, but 6 or less for the year

Honors:

  • Major Subject Average (Reading, Writing, Math) - 90% or greater
  • Science, Social Studies  - PASS
  • Minor Subjects - Grade of MA or greater
  • Academic and Personal Behaviors - Grade of MA or greater
  • Absences: No more than 5 absences per marking period, but 9 or less for the year
